Happy 2025! A lot has happened since my last post a full year ago! In December 2023 my boss left the institution and I was leading professional staff and an office for the first time. In April, my dad passed away unexpectedly. I was a bridesmaid in May and got to visit Boston again. I’m the lead for orientation logistics which is a huge project over summer. I went into the new school year with a new boss starting in August. Last, but certainly not least, throughout these ups and downs I was planning my wedding all by myself!! I got married to the sweetest man in November, which was pretty much immediately followed by the holidays. I don’t regret taking the year off blogging because it was very much necessary, but I am glad to be back!

I have so many ideas of topics that I want to write about to share my ideas, tips, advice, and love of supporting international students! I’ve undertaken many new projects over the past year and have really grown in my position at this institution. I’ve done a lot of reflecting about my role and how I view myself as an educator and also as a human who has a life outside of work. I’m looking forward to sharing my tips for international educators as well as advice for new and current international students. I’m a little rusty so thanks for bearing with me as I get back into the swing of things. The plan is one post a week like before, but as I wrote about before, giving myself grace at those busy times as needed. We can’t predict the future and we can’t control anything other than our mindset and how we react to situations.

Here’s a look at some of the articles I’m looking forward to writing for educators:
- Planning a senior series of events
- Balancing huge life events during busy seasons at work
- Tips for communications plans/streams
- Onboarding new staff efficiently and successfully
And some articles I can’t wait to write for international students:
- What to look at when considering American colleges part 2
- Tips to make the most of International orientation
- Party culture in America
- Understanding what a DSO does
For now, I’m going to figure out what to tackle first. Looking forward to sharing with y’all and hope you get something out of these posts. Always feel free to send me questions or suggestions for topics you’d like to see me write about.
Thanks for stopping by,
Sara
